Day 1 - DEPART USA.
Board your overnight flight.
Day 2 - ARRIVE CAIRO.
Welcome to Egypt - part of the Holyland, furnished with ancient temples and tombs, and lavish backdrop for many of history's most enthralling tales. Day 3 - CAIRO SIGHTSEEING.
The last remaining wonder of the ancient world is waiting for you and visitors are rarely disappointed! After a pre-tour briefing with your Tour Director, explore the riches of Giza, the enigmatic Sphinx and magnificent Pyramids. Your visit includes entry inside one of these extraordinary creations! Continue to Memphis, capital of the Old Kingdom, to see the colossal statue of Rameses II and great alabaster sphinx. At nearby Sakkara, view the Step Pyramid of Zoser I; the oldest pyramid in the world, dating from 2686BC. This evening attend a magical Sound and Light Show at the world famous Pyramids, which literally illuminates the ancient history of Giza! (BB)
Day 4 - CAIRO - ASWAN.
A morning flight across the Egyptian desert takes you to the exotic city of Aswan. There is the option of joining an excursion by air to Abu Simbel to view the fabulous temples carved out of the cliff side by Rameses II and later transported, in an amazing feat of modern engineering, out of the rising waters of Lake Nasser. Later, take a ride in a local sailing boat, a felucca, around Kitchener Island, to see Aswan's Botanical Gardens. Your hotel is set on Elephantine island in the middle of the River Nile. Day 5 - ASWAN - CRUISING.
Today's sightseeing includes a visit to the Aswan High Dam and the granite quarries, where an unfinished obelisk still lies attached to the granite bedrock, abandoned thousands of years ago due to a large fault line. A motorboat then whisks you across the Nile to the extraordinarily preserved temple complex of Isis on the island of Philae. It's time now to board one of the most stylish and spacious boats in Egypt to commence your luxury cruise. Day 6 - CRUISING.
Set sail for Kom Ombo early this morning to visit the riverside temple, uniquely dedicated to both the Crocodile God, Sobek, and the falcon-headed Horus. Continue cruising past irrigated fields and palm fringed villages to dock at Edfu for the night. As the evening descends, don your traditional attire for a fun-filled Egyptian Dinner and Galabea Party. (BB, L, HD)
Day 7 - CRUISING.
This morning explore the well preserved temple of Horus, dedicated to the Falcon God. Then sit back, relax and enjoy an endless parade of everyday life in rural Egypt as you float down-stream to Luxor. On arrival, visit the beautiful temple of Luxor, unearthed in the 1860's by archeologist Mariette. (BB, L, D)
Day 8 - LUXOR SIGHTSEEING.
Disembark your cruise boat and board an air-conditioned coach bound for the West Bank. See the huge Colossi of Memnon then visit the Temple of Hatshepsut, blending into the cliff face above. Continue to the Valley of the Kings, where Tutankhamen's treasure was discovered. Visit one of these underground tombs before returning to Luxor. Your sightseeing culminates amid the avenues of sphinxes and halls of gigantic columns in the immense temple complex of Karnak. Now check into your famous hotel. Originally built in 1886 to attract the nobility of Europe, it has been home to Howard Carter, Jane Fonda, King Farouk as well as many other crown princes and princesses. Day 9 - LUXOR - CAIRO.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight back to Cairo where you are at leisure. Perhaps take an optional excursion to visit the Coptic Museums and hanging church? Hotel: Conrad (BB)
Day 10 - CAIRO SIGHTSEEING.
Visit the Citadel for a breath taking view of the city of Cairo. Salah El Din started the Citadel in the 12th century, but it owes its present outline to Mohammed Ali, whose great Mosque you will visit next. Later, enjoy a highlight visit to the famous Egyptian Museum. Here, among the many thousands of artifacts on display, view Tutankhamun's splendid treasures, including his splendid burial mask. Then time to visit the famous Khan El Khalili bazaars to try your bargaining skills. The evening is at leisure. (BB)
Day 11 - RETURN TO USA.
Sadly, your comes to an end today. You are transferred to Cairo Airport to board your onward flights. (BB)
