Entering service in 2006, the River Royale offers guests the opportunity to enjoy intimate and comfortable cruises through Southern France. With spacious accommodations, loads of natural light through expansive windows, decadent gathering locations, and delicious French-inspired cuisine, the River Royale is one of the best ways to receive “royal” treatment while experiencing the best of Southern France. On all Uniworld river cruises in Europe, guests enjoy a true destination-focused experience, with one complimentary shore excursion per person at each unforgettable stop along the way.
As on all of Uniworld’s ships in Europe, the River Royale offers complimentary wine, beer, and sodas with dinner, bottled water, and optional al fresco dining. The Restaurant onboard the River Royale features open seating and boasts such fine selections that you may not want to eat anywhere else! The Cezanne Restaurant serves three meals per day – buffet breakfast and lunch, and full-service dinner each night. The River Royale also features lounges and a 24-hour coffee bar to enjoy snacks and drinks with traveling partners.
Each of the River Royale’s 66 cabins has a river-view and is equipped with a vanity and make-up mirror, generous built-in closets, a hair dryer, a safe, individual air conditioning, direct-dial telephone, a flat screen TV with a selection of viewing choices, a private bathroom, bottled water, and more. The River Royale’s cabins are complete with hotel-style bedding, 100% Egyptian cotton linens, European comforters, aromatherapy bath products, and plush robes. The ships sole suite is approximately 217 square feet and features additional in-cabin amenities such as a seating area with sofa.
There are several inviting entertainment options onboard the River Royale, including games and events, enrichment discussions with guest experts, lounges to interact with fellow travelers, and of course plenty of windows to view the passing scenery. At each stop along the way, Uniworld provides bicycles for complimentary checkout, providing an alternative to exploration by vehicle or foot.
Although there is a game room onboard, there is no casino option onboard the River Royale.
For passengers seeking to maintain a consistent workout regimen, there is a state-of-the-art fitness center onboard the River Royale, complete with various cardio equipment and workout space. The River Royale also offers complimentary bicycles at each stop.
Guests will enjoy drifting away in the revitalizing warmth of the River Royale’s onboard sauna or getting a massage from the ships onboard masseuse.
Passengers under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult who is 21 or over. Uniworld notes that most young children do not enjoy the Uniworld experience, and though they are allowed onboard, there are no special activities or arrangements to accommodate them. Uniworld does offer “family cruises” on select itineraries during the Summer months.
Guests can visit the River Royale’s onboard boutique to select personal gifts and keepsakes.
Dress onboard is typically resort casual, with the exception of a few formal events which require coat and tie for men and cocktail attire for women.
On Uniworld’s ships in Europe, there is a suggested 2-3 euro per day, per person for the local guide, and 1-2 euro for the driver. At the end of each trip there are two envelopes, one for the crew and the other for the tour manager. Uniworld’s suggestion for tips at the end of the cruise is 3 euro for the tour manager and 10 euro for the crew, per person, per day. Only cash is accepted as tips.
